Sri Tulasi Stotram

Sri Tulasi Stotram is the Slokam in praise of and as prayer to Sri Tulasi Devi, an incarnation of Sri Mahalakshmi. It is believed that Sri Lakshmi resides in all Tulasi plants. Hence Tulasi leaves only are used for doing archana to Sri Vishnu. It is believed that growing Tulsi plants at homes bring in prosperity and wards off illness and evil.

Sri Tulasi Stotram was composed by Sri Pundarika. It is presented in Devanagari and English scripts with a simple English translation. The benefits of reading and reciting this Slokam is embedded in the text itself.

जगद्धात्रि नमस्तुभ्यं विष्णोश्च प्रियवल्लभे
यतो ब्रह्मादयो देवाः सृष्टिस्थित्यन्तकारिणः (1)
jagadh-Dhaathri namas-thubhyaM viShNoash-cha priya-vallabhae
yathoa brahmaa-dhayoa dhaevaah sruShti-sThithy-antha-kaariNah
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. You are the bearer of the universe; You are the beloved of Sri Maha Vishnu; Due to Your prowess, Sri Brahma and other Devas are doing the activities of creating, protecting and destructing.

नमस्तुलसि कल्याणि नमो विष्णुप्रिये शुभे
नमो मोक्षप्रदे देवि नमः सम्पत्प्रदायिके (2)
namas-thulasi kalyaaNi namoa viShNu-priyae shubhae
namoa mokSha-pradhae dhaevi namah sampath-pradhaayikae
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She blesses auspiciousness and goodness in life; She is the beloved of Sri Maha Vishnu; She blesses virtuous benefits; She blesses liberation; and She blesses prosperity and wealth.

तुलसी पातु मां नित्यं सर्वापद्भ्योऽपि सर्वदा
कीर्तितापि स्मृता वापि पवित्रयति मानवम् (3)
thulasee paathu maaM nithyaM sarva-apadhbhyo-(A)pi sarvadhaa
keerthitha-api smruthaa vaapi pavithrayathi maanavam
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. Please protect and save me always from the calamities and the dangers; Singing Your glories and even retaining a memory of You blesses the humanity with pureness.

नमामि शिरसा देवीं तुलसीं विलसत्तनुम्
यां दृष्ट्वा पापिनो मर्त्या मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषात् (4)
namaami shirasaa dhaeveeM thulaseeM vilasath-thanum
yaaM dhruShtvaa paapinoa marthyaa muchyanthae sarva-kilbiShaath
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. You are the primary Goddess and You are resplendent; I reverentially bow down to You; The mere sight of You shall make the sinners of this mortal world to become sin free.

तुलस्या रक्षितं सर्वं जगदेतच्चराचरम्
या विनिहन्ति पापानि दृष्ट्वा वा पापिभिर्नरैः (5)
thulasyaa rakShithaM sarvaM jagadhae thach-chraa charam
yaa vinihanthi paapaani dhruShtvaa vaa paapibhir-naraih
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She is preserving this universe with all the moving and non-moving beings. She alleviates the sins of Her sincere devotees who ardently surrender to Her.

नमस्तुलस्यतितरां यस्यै बद्ध्वाञ्जलिं कलौ
कलयन्ति सुखं सर्वं स्त्रियो वैश्यास्तथाऽपरे (6)
namas-thulasyathi-tharaaM yasyai badhDhva-ancjaliM kalau
kalayanthi sukhaM sarvaM sthriyoa vaishyaas-thaThaa-[A]parae
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. The sincere devotees who worship Sri Tulsi Devi with folded hands shall cross over this Kaliyug with ease and attain all the pleasures irrespective of their stature in life.

तुलस्या नापरं किञ्चिद् दैवतं जगतीतले
यथा पवित्रितो लोको विष्णुसङ्गेन वैष्णवः (7)
thulasyaa naaparaM kinjchidh dhaivathaM jagathee-thalae
yaThaa pavithrithoa loakoa viShNu-sanggena vaiShNavah
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She is the most unique amongst all the Deities and there are none like Her; She sanctifies the universe in the same way whereby the Vishnu Bhakts are sanctified by their association with Sri Vishnu.

तुलस्याः पल्लवं विष्णोः शिरस्यारोपितं कलौ
आरोपयति सर्वाणि श्रेयांसि वरमस्तके (8)
thulasyaah pallavaM viShNoah shirasya-aroapithaM kalau
aaroapayathi sarvaaNi ShraeyaaMsi vara-masthakae
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. The prayerful placing of the leaves of the holy Tulsi plant on the holy reverential head of Sri Maha Vishnu results in bestowing of boons on the heads of the ardent devotees.

तुलस्यां सकला देवा वसन्ति सततं यतः
अतस्तामर्चयेल्लोके सर्वान् देवान् समर्चयन् (9)
thulasyaaM sakalaa dhaevaa vasanthi sathathaM yathah
athas-thaam-archayael-loakae sarvaan dhaevaan samarchayan
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She is the one in which all Deities and Devatas reside; Therefore, worshipping Sri Tulsi Devi is equivalent to worshipping all the Deities.

नमस्तुलसि सर्वज्ञे पुरुषोत्तमवल्लभे
पाहि मां सर्वपापेभ्यः सर्वसम्पत्प्रदायिके (10)
namas-thulasi sarvajnyae puruShoththama-vallabhae
paahi maaM sarva-paapaebhyah sarva-sampath-pradhaayikae
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She is always full of knowledge; She is the beloved of Sri Purushothama, Lord Sri Vishnu; She blesses and bestows all kinds of wealth. Please provide protection to me from all the sins.

इति स्तोत्रं पुरा गीतं पुण्डरीकेण धीमता
विष्णुमर्चयता नित्यं शोभनैस्तुलसीदलैः (11)
ithi sthothram puraa geethaM puNDareekaeNa Dheemathaa
viShNum-archayathaa nithyaM shobhanais-thulasee-dhalaih
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. This prayer was sung by Sri Pundarika when he was worshipping Sri Maha Vishnu with Tulsi leaves.

तुलसी श्रीर्महालक्ष्मीर्विद्याविद्या यशस्विनी
धर्म्या धर्मानना देवी देवीदेवमनःप्रिया (12)

लभते सुतरां भक्तिमन्ते विष्णुपदं लभेत्
तुलसी भूर्महालक्ष्मीः पद्मिनी श्रीर्हरिप्रिया (14)
labhathae sutharaaM bhaktim-anthae viShNu-padhaM labhaeth
thulasee bhoor-mahaalakShmeeh padhminee Shreer-hari-priyaa
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She has sixteen names basically such as Thulasi, Sri (beauty and wealth), Mahalakshmi (prosperity), Vidhya (knowledge) Avidhya (remover of ignorance), Yashasvinee (famous), Dharmya (personified form of virtues), Dharma Anana (with face reflecting righteousness), Devi (Goddess), Devi Deva Mana Priya (Goddess dear to the Devas), Lakshmi Priya Sakhi (close companion of Sri Lakshmi), Dyuah (heaven), Bhumi (earth), Achala (non-moving) and Chala (moving).
The devotee who sincerely worship Sri Tulasi Devi with these names shall attain the lotus feet of Sri Vishnu without any trouble.
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi who is also known as Padmini (Goddess of lotus) and Hari Priya (the beloved of Sri Hari).

तुलसि श्रीसखि शुभे पापहारिणि पुण्यदे
नमस्ते नारदनुते नारायणमनःप्रिये (15)
thulasi shree-sakhi shubhae paapa-haariNi puNya-dhae
namasthae naaradha-nuthae naaraayaNa-manah-priyae
Humble salutations to Sri Tulsi Devi. She is the constant companion of Sri Lakshmi. She blesses and bestows auspiciousness. She alleviates the sins. She is praised and worshipped by Sage Narada, who is the beloved of Sri Narayana.
