Sri Sankata Hara Ganapathi Sthothram is the Slokam in praise of and as prayer to Bhagwan Ganesha. It is mostly recited on Sankata Hara Chathurthi days.

Sri Sankata Hara Ganapathi Sthothram describes the basic twelve attributes of Sri Vinayaka. Sri Vigneshwara is the primary God. His blessings are invoked before embarking on any work or venture.

Sri Sankata Hara Ganapathi Sthothram is narrated here in Devanagari and English scripts with a simple English translation. The benefits of recitation is embedded in the slokam itself.

प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्र विनायकम्
भक्तावासं स्मरेन्नित्यायुष्कामार्थ सिद्धये (1)

-Who is the God to be ardently worshipped by bowing the head;
-Who is the Son of Sri Gowri;
-Who is Sri Vinayaka, created by the Mother;
-Who resides with His devotees; and
-Who shall always be kept in mind and heart for being blessed with long life, accomplishment of the desires and for attaining the goals of life.

प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम्
तृतीयं कृष्ण पिङ्गाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् (2)
praThamaM vakra-thuNdaM cha eka-dhanthaM dhvitheeyakam

-Who is firstly known as Sri Vakra-tunda, the God with the curved trunk;
-Who is secondly known as Sri Eka-danta, the God with a single tusk (the other tusk was broken by Sri Ganesha to write Sri Maha Bharatha)
-Who is thirdly known as Sri Krishna Pinga Aksha, the God with dark eyes; and
-Who is fourthly known as Sri Gaja Vaktra, the God with elephant face.

लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च
सप्तमं विघ्नराजं च धूम्रवर्ण तथाष्टमम् (3)
lamboa-udharaM panchamaM cha ShaShTaM vikatameva cha
sapthamaM vighna-raajaM cha Dhoomra-varNa thaThaaShtamam

-Who is fifthly known as Sri Lambodhara, the God with big belly;
-Who is sixthly known as Sri Vikata, the God with huge body;
-Who is seventhly known as Sri Vigna Raja, the God who removes the hurdles; and
-Who is eighthly known as Sri Dhumravarna, the God of purple color.

नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम्
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् (4)
navamaM Bhaala-chandhraM cha dhashamaM thu vinaayakam
ekaadhashaM gaNapathiM dhvaadhashaM thu gajaananam

-Who is ninthly known as Sri Bala Chandra, the God with the crescent moon on His head;
-Who is tenthly known as Sri Vinayaka, the God created by His Mother;
-Who is eleventhly known as Sri Ganapathi, the leader of Ganas, the celestial warriors; and
-Who is twelfthly known as Sri Gajanana, the God with elephant face.

द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्व सिद्धिश्च जायते (5)
dhvaadhashai-thaani naamaani tri-sanDhyaM yah paTen-narah
na cha vighna-bhayaM thasya sarva-sidhDhish-cha jaayathe

The person who reads and recites these twelve names of Sri Ganesha thrice a day shall have no fear of obstacles or hurdles; All his wishes and desires shall be fulfilled.

विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम्
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान्मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् (6)
vidhyaarThee laBhathe vidhyaam DhanaarThee laBhathe Dhanam
puthraartThee laBhathe puthraan-mokSha-arThee laBhathe gathim

The ardent recitation of these twelve names by the
-students or the seekers of wisdom / knowledge shall result in their gaining the knowledge.
-seekers of wealth shall result in them being wealthy;
-seekers of progeny shall result in being blessed with progeny; and
-seekers of moksha shall result in them attaining spiritual liberation.

जपेद् गणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासैः फलं लभेत्
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशयः (7)
japedh gaNapatji-sthothraM ShadBhir-maasaih phalaM laBheth
saMvathsareNa sidhDhiM-cha laBhathe naathra saMshayah

The persons reading and reciting this Stotram for six months shall start getting the aspirations fulfilled.
The persons reciting for a year shall surely attain his objectives without any doubt or trouble.

अष्टाभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वा यः समर्पयेत्
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः (8)
aShtaaBhyo braahmaNeBhyash-cha likhithvaa yah samarpayeth
thasya vidhyaa bhavet-sarvaa gaNeshasya prasaadhathah

The person who writes this Stotram with ardent devotion and gives to eight brahmins shall obtain all knowledge and wisdom with the blessings of Sri Ganesha.
