Sri Gana Nayaka Ashtakam is the Slokam in praise of and as prayer to Sri Vinayaka.

Sri Gana Nayaka Ashtakam has eight stanzas which describe the attributes of Sri Ganapathi. The last additional stanza mentions the benefits of reciting this Slokam. The details of the author of this Slokam are not available.

Sri Gana Nayaka Ashtakam is composed as prayer to Sri Ganapathi as the Head of the celestial warriors, Ganas.  The Slokam is given in Devanagari and English scripts with a simple English translation.

एकदन्तं महाकायं तप्तकांचन सन्निभम्
लम्बॊदरं विशालाक्षं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (1)

ekadhantham mahaakaayam thapthakaanchana sanniBham
lamboadgaram vishaalaakShaM vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He has the single tusk. He has the huge body. He appears like the melted gold. He has the enormous belly. His eyes are broader.

मौञ्जी कृष्णा जिनधरं नागयज्ञॊ पवीतिनम्
बालॆन्दु सकलं मौलिं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (2)

mounjee krishNaa jinaDharaM naagayagnoa paveethinam
baalaendhu vilasan-mouliM vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He is victorious. He has the dark body. He wears the snake as the holy thread. He wears crescent moon on His head.

अंबिका हृदयानन्दं मातृभिः परिपालितम्
भक्तप्रियं मदॊन्मत्तं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (3)

aMbikaa hridayaanandaM maathrubhih paripaalitham
bhaktha-priyam madhoanmaththaM vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He makes the heart of His mother Ambika happy. He is always at His mother’s service. He is fond of His devotees. He is exuberant.

चित्ररत्न विचित्रगं चित्रमाला विभूषितं
कामरूपधरं देवं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (4)

chithra-rathna vichithragaM chithra-maalaa viBhooShithaM
kaama-roopa-dharaM dhaevam vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He poses perfectly in the pictures. He has the garland decorating around His neck. He has the most desirable and endearing appearance. He is the God.

गजवक्त्रम् सुरश्रेष्ठम् कर्णचामर भूषितम्
पाशांकुशधरम् दॆवं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (5)

gaja-vakthram sura-sraeShTam karNachaamara Bhooshitham
paashaaM-kushaDharam dhaevam vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He has the elephant head. He is the best of the Devas. His ears appear like swinging fans. He holds the goad and the rope in His hands.

मूषिकूतं मारुह्य दॆवासुर महाहवॆ
यूद्धु कामम् महा वीर्यम् वन्दॆऽहम् गणनायकम् (6)

mushikoothaM maaruhya dhaeva-asura mahaa-havaey
yoodhDhu kaamam mahaa veeryam vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

He has the mouse as His vehicle. He is worshipped by Devas and asuras. He is the most desirable warrior. He has great valor.

यक्ष किन्नेर गन्धर्व सिद्धि विद्याधरै सदा
स्तुत्यमानं महाभाहुं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (7)

yakSha kinnera gandharva sidhDhi vidhyaadharay sadhaa
sthuthya-maanam mahaa-bhaahum vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

Ardent Salutations to Sri Ganapathi.
Yakshas, the celestial goblets, Kinneras, the celestial guards and Gandharvas, the celestial artists sincerely worship Him. He blesses the boons to learn Siddhis. He is always prayed at. He has mighty arms.

सर्व विघ्नहरं दॆवं सर्व विघ्न विवर्जितम्
सर्वसिद्धि प्रदातारं वन्दॆऽहं गणनायकम् (8)

sarva vigna-haram dhaevaM sarva vigna vivarjetham
sarva sidhDhi pradha-thaaraM vandhae-haM gaNanaayakam

Ardent Salutations to Sri Ganapathi.
He destroys all types of obstacles. He diminishes the obstacles and the troubles which come in our way. He blesses and bestows all the achievements.
We humbly worship the leader and the lord of the Ganas.

गणाष्टकमिदं पुण्यं य पठेत् सततं नर:
सिद्ध्यन्ति सर्व कार्यानि विधायवान् धनवान् भवेत् (9)

gaNa-aShtakam-idhaM puNyaM ya paTeth sathathaM narah
sidhDhyanthi sarva kaaryaani viDhaayavaan Dhanavaan Bhaveth

Reading and reciting of this Gana Ashtakam gives auspiciousness and eternal benefits. The person is blessed with success in all the efforts and is bestowed with achievements and wealth.
